The European nation of Portugal has announced a slew of post-Christmas Covid restrictions, including a mandate for all employees to work from home, and the forced closure of bars and other businesses along with other measures.
The government announced the new round of restrictions for the 87%-fully vaccinated nation on Tuesday.
During the lockdown, patrons can show a negative Covid test result to enter, theaters, sports venues, weddings and baptisms.
Prime Minister António Costa said, “We know we’re going into an especially difficult period.”
On New Year’s Eve, citizens will be limited to a maximum of 10 people gathering together in the streets, and outdoor alcohol consumption will be banned outright.
