One of the largest media outlets in the nation of Denmark, Ekstra Bladet, has run a formal apology to the public for repeating the line of the sitting Danish government on the coronavirus epidemic without skepticism or scrutiny.
“Overall, the messages from the authorities and politicians to the public in this historic crisis leave much to be desired. And so they lie, as they did when parts of the population lost confidence in them.”
Scandinavian countries have incurred significantly less severe coronavirus epidemics than those seen in nations such as the United States, without making schools virtual-only for extended periods of time and instituting draconian restrictions on the public. Far more citizens of nations such as Denmark have received vaccines- with some statistics indicating 80%- without the partisan political measures to compel vaccination implemented in America.
Ekstra Bladet had printed press releases released by Denmark’s government. The nation’s prime minister belongs to a party somewhat paradoxical to the political trends of Anglo-Saxon countries, supporting right-wing populist policies on immigration and socially democratic policies on labor rights and the economy.
“Overall, the messages from the authorities and politicians to the public in this historic crisis leave much to be desired. And so they lie, as they did when parts of the population lost confidence in them,” read Bladet’s apology.
The apology references materials referring to vaccines as “supervaccines,” and hospitals as “superhospitals,” describing such terminology used by the Danish government as inappropriate for an objective media outlet to release to the public with being challenged.
The traditional role of independent media is to challenge powerful government officials and dispute the factual accuracy of what they proclaim to be true, rather than serving as de facto governmental propagandists. American mainstream media has consistently worshiped fundamentally flawed government officials tasked with dealing with the coronavirus, such as disgraced scientist Anthony Fauci.
