Tired residents of Naples, Italy have teamed up to form an epic demonstration of civil disobedience to celebrate the start of the new year, when at the same time they began firing what appeared to be thousands of fireworks in direct challenge to the ban on the mayor on the basis of New Year’s Eve.

The colored explosions lit up the night sky as far as can be seen in the video. The onslaught of fireworks continues to illuminate the entire sky for over 2 minutes before the time allotted in the video runs out. They seem to continue even after stopping the recording.

The video has already amassed over 1.7 million views on Twitter after being posted a few hours ago.

What a way to celebrate the new year while still giving the finger to the tyrants of Covid.

The fireworks ban has been in effect since the last two holiday seasons since China unleashed Covid around the world.

Italians, like many other EU citizens, have been subjected to some of the toughest and most dystopian Covid restrictions during the pandemic. From paralyzing blocks to, passports for vaccines, the country has taken all the most extreme measures in a vain attempt to “flatten the virus”.

Outraged citizens have been protesting on the streets by the thousands for months, and with the prospect of renewed and potentially tougher measures in place due to the omicron variant, the number of people rebelling against this tyranny has only grown.

Although it may be small, the gesture sends a strong message. The Italian people do not hold back, they rebel with the resistance of the rest of the world. This tyranny will not last much longer.
