According to Daily Mail the UK is considering sending door-to-door vaccination teams to unvaccinated British homes to reach the estimated five million people who have not yet been vaccinated.
The initiative was discussed last week by the Department of Health, the NHS England and the No. 10 as part of a nationwide initiative to send vaccination teams to areas with the lowest vaccination rates – and as an alternative to cordons and other restrictions, and as a “promotion” solution of vaccination in rural areas or households where people cannot easily travel to a vaccination center.
“I think that anything that encourages those who refuse to be vaccinated makes sense,” said a cabinet minister, who then warned: “The mood in the country is hardening against people who refuse to be vaccinated.”
In other words, get vaccinated even though Omikron laughs at the vaccine and hardly anyone has died from it.
This comes at a time when SAGE is warning that the UK is facing a major wave of Covid hospitalizations and that the peak could be even higher than last winter, despite Omikron’s lower severity.
In minutes of a December 23 meeting released yesterday evening, the government’s Emergency Scientific Advisory Group warned that the peak of hospital admissions “may be comparable to or higher than previous peaks” – including the second wave in January.
But MPs and hospitality executives have warned Boris Johnson not to introduce any new restrictions before New Year’s Eve, otherwise there is a risk that business will be “devastating”. -Daily Mail
The NHS England vaccination campaign continued on Christmas days. In the week leading up to December 21, more than 220,000 initial doses of the vaccine were given – a 46% increase from the previous week. The number of first vaccinations rose by 85% for the 18 to 24 year olds and by 71% for the 25 to 30 year olds – which Health Minister Sajid Javid described as “excellent”.
